The Circuit Breaker Analyzer CAT64 is a DV Power device with 6 timing channels used for the condition assessment of three-pole controlled circuit breakers. It measures and displays the numerical values for main contact timing, open and close coil currents, analog signals, and motion and velocity parameters.

Intended use of Circuit Breaker Analyzer 

 The circuit breaker analyzer, DV Power CAT64, is designed to measure the main contact timing of LV and HV circuit breaker types with 2 interrupting chambers per phase. The obtained measurement are displayed in numerical form, and the graphical interpretation of the obtained results is available while using the intuitive DV-Win PC software.
The list of instrument applications includes:
  • Measuring the timing of the main contacts (2 breaks per phase) including pre-insertion resistors (if present) and auxiliary contacts.
  • Measuring the resistance of the pre-insertion resistors (if present).
  • Evaluating the synchronization between the circuit breaker chambers.
  • Coil Control for actuation of circuit breaker’s OPEN and CLOSE coil.
  • Measurements using the transducer that include stroke, contact wipe, overtravel, rebound, and average velocity of circuit breaker operating mechanism.
  • Evaluating the state of the substation’s battery.

How to use Circuit Breaker Analyzer and Timer CAT64?

Both Low-voltage and High-voltage circuit breakers with 2 interrupting chamber per phase can be tested with the CAT64 circuit breaker anlyzer. In case the pre-insertion resistors are detected, the tester will measure the ON Time and display the results.
All obtained circuit breaker information including coil circuit data, motion and velocity parameters will be saved in a single test result file.

Connecting CAT64 to a Circuit Breaker

The CAT64 device is provided with test leads for measuring the timing of the main contacts and pre-insertion resistors, enabling the function to detect the state of the circuit breaker (Open / Close).
Used Coil Control cable actuates the coils and simultaneously measures the current waveform of the corresponding coil with minimum noises from the environment. The Coil Control cable and Voltage Sense cable set can be easily connected to the coil circuit using the provided Dolphin Clips, Test probes, or Jumper cables.
If motion and velocity measurements are relevant, the universal transducer input channel to which the digital rotary or analog linear transducer can be connected is available for use.
