Insulation in all power objects (single- and multicore cables, transformers, motors, generators, capacitors, circuit breakers, etc.) degrades over time, especially if exposed to temperature extremes and/or chemical contamination. Insulation degradation can cause electric shocks and short circuits, leading to user accidents and/or costly product repairs. Therefore, it is crucial to test the insulation with an insulation resistance meter and detect deterioration in time to apply corrective actions.
