DV Power IBAR is a handheld unit for internal battery resistance testing. This internal resistance tester helps determine the state of health of batteries by measuring internal resistance and cell voltage, as well as inter-cell connection resistance. This battery resistance tester can also be used as a support tool during capacity testing where it can be used for cell voltage measurement.
This device is an optimal tool for maintenance, troubleshooting and performance testing of individual cells in all types of battery systems. It is intended for battery resistance measurement on fully batteries which are disconnected from the charger.
Results obtained with IBAR, together with other measurements such as cell temperature and specific gravity can provide crucial information for battery health evaluation.
Intended use of IBAR
This unit intended for offline resistance measuring of all types of batteries. This battery resistance meter can be used for the following applications:- Quick verification of stationary battery state of health and battery trending analysis
- Simultaneous measurement of battery internal resistance and voltage (U+R mode)
- Measurement of intercell connection resistance for verification of battery intercell connections
Battery Resistance Tester IBAR - Key Features
This unit has a resistance measurement range of 5 Ω and a voltage measurement range of 60 V. When a user starts the test, the deviceautomatically detects the resistance range. The user can also set the measurement range manually, which can lead to shorter test time.IBAR enables the user to set upper and lower measurement thresholds or limits, and based on these the device will display a pass/warning/fail indication during the test. All measurements can be saved automatically in the device’s memory. The auto saving option can be turned off in the settings if the user only wants to check the value without saving.
Operation Modes
There are two operation modes available:- U+R mode – this mode is used for simultaneous measurement of battery cell resistance and voltage
- U mode – in this mode only cell voltage is measured. This mode is intended for cell voltage measurement during a capacity test of a battery string.

DV-B Win software is used to download results from the IBAR device. Connection is established via USB cable. In the DV-B Win software results can be presented in different formats such as table forms or scan and line graphs, which enables easier trending and results analysis. In order to perform detailed comparisons and analysis of measured data, user defined limits for battery internal resistance and voltage, as well as cell temperature, are displayed in the scan graph view along with measured results. .A test report of collected data can be generated and user customized for a comprehensive assessment of battery’s state of health. Numerical and graphical results may be exported from DV-B Win in different formats: Excel spreadsheet, PDF, Word etc.
